Your Cashmere should last for years! Invest in the best you can afford and a timeless style.

Cashmere's durability is a combination of its natural properties, quality manufacturing processes, and proper care by the owner. Choosing high-quality cashmere and taking care of it will ensure that your cashmere garments can last for many years, providing you with comfort and style throughout their extended lifespan

Its so important to store your cashmere correctly - to protect it from moths, keep it clean, and maintain its shape.

Cashmere is a natural & delicate and luxurious fabric, so follow these steps to ensure it stays in excellent condition:

  1. Clean the cashmere: Before storing, make sure the cashmere is clean. Follow the care instructions on the label or handwash it with a gentle detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics. Avoid using harsh chemicals or bleach.
WEARWITH Cashmere is machine washable – we want you to wear it and wear it, see our washing instructions here
  2. Dry thoroughly: After hand washing, gently press out excess water without wringing or twisting the cashmere. Lay it flat on a clean towel and reshape it to its original size. after Machine Wash - let yoru cashmere air dry away from direct sunlight or heat sources on a flat surface with air circulation.
  3. Fold, don't hang: Hanging cashmere for an extended period can cause it to stretch and lose its shape. Instead, fold the cashmere garments neatly to prevent wrinkles and maintain their form. Place acid-free tissue paper between the folds to help prevent creases.
  4. Use breathable storage containers: Opt for breathable fabric storage containers or cotton bags for storing cashmere. Avoid plastic bags, as they can trap moisture and lead to mildew or mould growth. Bags do not guarantee the moths won’t get your Cashmere but they do add an additional protective layer.
  5. Add moth repellents: Cashmere is attractive to moths, so use natural moth repellents like lavender sachets, cedar chips, or dried orange peels and Chestnuts. WEARWITH Cashmere Care packages come with cedarwood moth balls and a cashmere comb. Mothballs last for 6 moths and then need to be re oiled. Any strong smelling odour will repel moths, we use cedarwood oil but lavender oil works too and also makes your drawers smell heavenly.
  6. Store in a cool, dry place: Find a cool, dry storage location for your cashmere. Moisture and direct sunlight can damage the fibres, leading to colour fading or mildew growth. The ideal storage place could be a wardrobe or a drawer.
  7. Regularly check and refold: Periodically check on your cashmere to ensure there are no signs of moths or damage. Refold your cashmere to avoid creases in the same areas for an extended period.
  8. Avoid contact with rough fabrics: When storing cashmere with other items, make sure they are not made of rough materials that can snag or damage the delicate fibres.
  9. Keep it clean in storage: Avoid storing cashmere with food, perfumes, or other items with strong odours that can transfer to the fabric.
  10. Going on holidays?: Leave your cashmere drawers or cupboard doors open. Moths don’t like light, and you may be worried they will get dusty, but that a lot easier to sort out than Moth holes!

By following these storage tips, you can help maintain the softness, shape, and quality of your cashmere garments for a long time.

Proper care will also extend the lifespan of your cherished cashmere pieces.
