Why Cashmere?

A well-made cashmere jumper can last for years if properly cared for, making it a worthwhile investment. Our Cashmere is machine washable and improves with age.

Sustainable choice: Investing in a high-quality cashmere means that you're making a more sustainable choice. Cashmere is one of the most sustainable environmentally friendly fibers, its product causes very little harm to the environment. Cashmere can be worn for many many years, reducing the amount of clothing waste that ends up in landfills. Additionally, cashmere is a renewable and biodegradable material, making it an eco-friendly choice, but please do check the credentials of the manufacturer, some Cashmere producers cause more harm than good through increased demand for cheaper cashmere.
Why Mongolia?
Mongolia is renowned for its high-quality cashmere production, and by sourcing from this region, we are supporting the local economy and preserving traditional skills.
Our factory is just outside Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Founded in 1997 after democracy came to Mongolia, it is a family run business. We know that the Goats and Herders are treated fairly and ethically and we know our cashmere is made in an environmentally friendly way using organic materials - our Cashmere is SFA certified (Sustainable Fiber Alliance). Their standard stands for:
- Ensure the welfare of their goats
- Safeguard biodiversity and use land responsibly
- Promote decent work
- Preserve and enhance fibre quality, and
- Operate an effective management system
We know the people who make are Cashmere are good, kind and considerate people, caring for the goats, the environment and everyone in their factory. We visited in march 2023 and had a wonderful tour of the factory and met the workers and we were very impressed with the excellent working conditions and treatment of the staff.
